i LIVE IN OKLAHOMA AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT THE SIZZERTAIL FLYCATCHER IS A BEAUTIFUL AND INTERESTING BIRD. WHEN THE SIZZERTAILS COME BACK FOR THE YEAR IT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY, THEY LIVE IN THE SMALL BUSHES BESIDE OUR ACCESS ROAD AND SIT ON THE HIGHLINES. WHEN THEY MATE THE MALE FLYS UP INTO THE AIR AND DOES A DIVEBOMB EFFECT, SHE MUST LIKE IT AS WE HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF SIZZERTAILS HERE. OKIE FROM MUSKOGEE

Hi Okie,
I have never been to Oklahoma but it is on my list of places to visit. I have only seen the Scissor-tail in Texas. I hear you have Prairie-chickens too.

What a lovely bird! I hadnt seen one of these before. I miss the birds back home in New York, but thankfully here in Australia we have some wonderful birds to make up for missing the ones back there - stop by my blog if you get a chance, I keep budgerigars but when a nice Aussie bird stays long enough for a photo I post them - you could have a 'cyber-sighting' trip!
